Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data nagatranslate.in collects, why, who it is shared with, and what you can do about it. It applies to the website and to the NagaTranslate Android app.
Who we are
NagaTranslate ("we", "us") is an independent project operated by Agniva Maiti, providing free translation between English and the languages of Nagaland at nagatranslate.in. Data protection questions can be sent to hello@mynimalistic.com.

What we collect
Text and audio you submit
When you translate text, record speech, or send a message in NagaChat, that content is transmitted to our servers and to third-party AI providers in order to produce a result. Submitted phrases may be cached temporarily to improve quality and to speed up repeated requests.
Please do not submit confidential, sensitive or personally identifying information to this or any other online translation service.
Contributions and corrections
If you deliberately submit a correction or a phrase through the Improve button or the contribute form, that content is stored and used to improve future translations. Contributions are not attributed to you and we do not ask for your name.
Data stored on your own device
NagaChat stores your conversation history, your chosen language, your daily message quota and your return streak in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device, is not transmitted to us, and is removed if you clear your browser data.
Technical and usage data
Our hosting provider and analytics record standard technical information such as page requests, approximate region, referring page, device type and browser. Basic request metadata is also logged for abuse prevention and rate limiting.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the site.
- We do not sell personal information.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Advertising
This site uses Google AdSense to display advertising, which is one of the ways the project covers its running costs.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

Advertising has no influence on the editorial content of this site. No guide, phrase or translation is sponsored.

Each of these providers processes data under its own privacy policy. We share only what is necessary to deliver the feature you have used.
How long data is kept
- Translation input: cached only briefly, for performance. Not retained as a permanent record of your activity.
- Contributed corrections and phrases: retained indefinitely, because they form part of the language dataset. They contain no identifying information.
- Local storage on your device: retained until you clear it.
- Technical logs: retained for a limited period for security and abuse prevention.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal data relating to you, and to object to processing or withdraw consent.
Because this site does not require an account and does not attach identity to translation requests, we usually hold no personal data linked to a particular individual. If you believe we do, write to hello@mynimalistic.com and we will investigate and respond.
You can also control advertising cookies through the opt-out links above, and clear all locally stored data at any time through your browser settings.
Children
NagaTranslate is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time. Changes are posted on this page with a revised date at the top. Material changes will be noted prominently.
